Shopping lists, tutorials, brands, and devices. These are the current top food and drinks Alexa use case. I wonder if it would be technically possible to have a skill that would record kitchen activities (ex. chopping or cooking something) and offer advice based on only the sounds. The first use case that comes to mind would be something like “Hey! Come grab your stovetop popcorn! It’ll be perfect in 10 seconds!”.
OurGroceries by HeadCode – 4.5 out of 5, 2356 ratings, 473 reviews
This skill lets you add items to the shopping lists on your OurGroceries app. The app keeps your grocery lists instantly synchronized on all the iPhone and Android smartphones in your household—and it’s free! It also tracks recipes, takes photos of items, and scans barcodes.
Random review: I read every review before setting this up, then tried to avoid the issues that were mentioned. I went to the Our Groceries website and deleted the default Shopping List. Then I created specific lists like Groceries and Target. I have one called Sally, for Sally Beauty Supply. After creating an account and password on that website, I was ready to link Alexa. She worked like a charm! “Alexa, ask Our Groceries to add gel to Sally.”… “Added gel to Sally.” (love her) I checked my phone app and there it was, like magic. “Alexa, ask Our Groceries to add toilet paper to Target.”….” Adding toilet paper to Target.” She has performed just as well ever since. Random review: Below Is my original review. Yesterday I turned off location and thenturned it back on. Now when I say exactly this” Alexa, ask Culver’s, what is the flavor of the day” it works perfectly. Never works.I have to ask several times. Tell it the location each time if she does recognize the question. Easier to look it up on the ipad (4 out of 5)

Chop Chop is a handsfree kitchen companion serving up fun, easy to follow tutorials on chopping fresh produce. From the basics to the exotics, Chop Chop’s step-by-step instructions will have you slicing and dicing in no time.
Random review: This is such a cool idea. People pay so much money to attend cooking classes where they do a mediocre job at teaching these types of knife skills.
CHOP CHOP is free, and commentary is hilarious. (5 out of 5)
