Top 10 novelty and humor Alexa Skills (September 2019)

Amazon Alexa market Novelty and humor Top skills

This random assortment of skills is the equivalent to those novelty joke shops in malls from the 90s. There doesn’t seem to be much coherence across skills, besides their ability to make people laugh.

I could see something like Billy Bass, or any other silly product that was big in the 90s, making it huge in this category.

Short Bedtime Story by Webguild – 4 out of 5, 3852 ratings, 1019 reviews

Have Alexa tell a short bedtime story, personalized to your name. There are several stories at this time and more are coming.
Random review: Once upon a time there was a brilliant computer programmer He decided to write a skill for me, your Amazon Echo. Matthew called the skill, “Short Bedtime Story”. After only a few short years of hard work, Matthew convinced Amazon to accept the “Short Bedtime Story” skill into their catalog so everybody could play it. The only problem was that so many folks reviewed the skill giving it just one star! Can you imagine? One star! Folks complained that I talk too fast; but there was no way for Matthew to adjust my speaking speed. Another complaint was that the pronouns were wrong for the name even though Matthew programmed 3000 boy’s names and 4000 girl’s names. Matthew decided to write many different stories for folks to play and hoped they would give his skill a bunch of stars. Well now you know my story. Since it is getting late, you may listen to one more Short Bedtime Story and if it’s OK with your dad, you may have a cookie with milk before bed. (5 out of 5)

Deez Nuts by cooliotonyio – 4.4 out of 5, 1490 ratings, 36 reviews

Does your life feel incomplete? Do you struggle to find direction and meaning in what you do? Do you feel plagued by feelings of loneliness and isolation in a world that doesn’t care? Well this skill certainly won’t help, but it’ll get you some of Deez Nuts.

Random review: This literally changed my life. I find myself going outside of my house, seeing the sun. I spent a majority of my life locked inside my room — windows closed — looking at dank memes and eating Cheetos — the regular ones, not the spicy ones because they give my explosive diarrhea — and now with this Alexa Skill I find myself leaving the dark Plato’s-Cave that was my room. I’ve seen my family for the first time in years. I’ve realized my puppy Steve passed away due to my negligence. I am jogging now, exercising and getting fit. I feel like nothing can stop me from being a better me. I just want to give every one a taste of Deez Nuts (5 out of 5)

In the mood for some Yo Mama jokes? Simply ask Alexa and enjoy some of the funniest Yo Momma jokes around.

Random review: The jokes are funny and the skill works well, but how difficult could it really be to load more than five jokes? Seriously someone spent the time figuring out how to make this skill possible, but then only loaded five jokes? After 10 minutes it’s completely pointless! (3 out of 5)
